Sarah's Key

It was a very interesting book which got me interested right away; it was originally in the free book container at the library, but it appears that I had made a great choice of bringing it.
Unfortunately, the last page of the book was torn away, which irritated me very much but I managed to find it online...

I'd give it 4.5 out of 5

Sarah's Key - At the start of holocaust, French soldiers arrest most of Jewish families regardless of their gender and age and deport them to Germany. Most people may only blame Nazi for the genocide, but France also participates... The book vacillates between two perspectives: Sarah and Julia. Sarah experiences the holocaust as a victim who escapes soon after to free her brother. When French police visits her apartment to arrest her family, she locks her brother in a cupboard and promises to return for him. However, she realizes that returning is impossible and eventually plans to escape the camp in order to find him...
Julia is an American journalist residing in France who researches about France involvement in holocaust. After strenuous research, she discovers that her husband's family is involved with Sarah and continues to research more about her. Although deeply troubled and shocked by Sarah's story, Julia finds comfort in solving the mysteries of what really happened.
